In his opening speech, Mr Pacifique MUSONGERA, who acts as the Director General at Burundi Civil Aviation Authority has welcomed all EAC delegates in the meeting. He also states that through the priority of airport projects, the EAC partner states envisage to develop specific airports that constitue entry/exist points and to boost tourism in the region. 

Mr Andrea Aguer Ariik Malueth , the Deputy Secretary General ,Planning Infrastructure also emphasizes that airports facilitate services to businesses and personal travelers by providing passenger transportation, rapid long- distance cargo movement and facilitating tourism and trade.
